SCHEELITE / TUNGSTENIUM MINERY (WO³ with more than 70% content)

MNB - Mineração Nordeste Brasil is extracting, processing and concentrating, scheelite ore, WO³ composite mineral, concentrated at 70 % for the production of Tungsten.

In its processing plant in the Northeast region of Brazil, a metamorphic mineral composed mainly of Calcium Tungsten (CAWO4), a source of W tungsten, a non-ferrous metallic mineral of high density, with a melting point above 4500 ºC, ore for Tungsten.

FIRST PHASE OF THE PROJECT

In the first phase of the project, the beneficiation plant was sized to have an installed capacity to process up to 5 thousand tons of scheelite ore per month to produce concentrate with a content higher than 65%.

SCHEELITE ORE (WO³ ) TUNGSTEN OXIDE

Scheelita : a calcium tungstate mineral important in the production of tungsten, which is found in skarms or tactites, hard metamorphic and coarse-grained rocks, formed in the metasomatics process, where skarms tend to be rich in silicate minerals.

Tungsten does not occur naturally in its pure metallic state, it is produced from scheelite or wolframite ore,

The production through scheelite is a metal that has unique characteristics such as high hardness, high density and its melting point is considered the highest of all existing metals. Sheelite is a Swedish name with the meaning 'heavy stone' and was discovered at the end of the xviii century as a distinct and harder element on the planet, where it was first described in 1751 in Sweden and named after the Swedish chemist Carl Wilhelm Scheele (1742/1786), due to its unusual weight the Swedish was named after tungsten.

Scheelite is identified as a substance with fluorescence properties, where the mineral becomes visible under the action of radiation or UV light,  to walk it at night with an ultraviolet light lamp is a way to look for the mineral.

In Brazil the scheelite ore is found in the state of Rio Grande do Norte in the Northeast region of Brazil, where the mine of MNB - Mineração Nordeste Brasil is installed.

TUNGSTEN IN THE MARKET

The current price of tungsten ore, tungsten powder, tungsten concentrate, tungsten oxide and more is provided by London Metal Bulletin in a timely manner.
The standard unit of trade for tungsten is the MTU ''metric unit per tonne''.
China has the largest reserves and production, with prices that differ from Europe. Currently, several factors are contributing to the rise in the price of tungsten due to the expansion and diversity of its current use in various end-use industries such as: automotive, electronics, mining, oil and gas, defence, aerospace, electricity and construction.

OTHER MINERALS FOUND IN THE MINE

MNB has also identified other polymetallic ores in its research area, such as copper sulphide, where we are investing in deeper drilling and chemical analysis to size the mineralised body for copper and other ores.
